Account book, 1808-1816.

This collection consists of a book of receipts signed by creditors, 1808-1816, and three loose receipts, 1815 and 1816. The earlier receipts were apparently settlements of her husband's debts. They include payments for large orders of almanacs, as well as printing ink, writing paper, and sundry books. The receipts dated after 1810 concern the purchase of stationery, wrapping paper, printing paper, paper hangings, carpentry and bricklaying work, books left on consignment, copies of the Heidelbergh Catechism, and a subscription to the Female Hospitable Society. Among the creditors were George W. Mentz (1750?- ) of Warwick, Pa., and Conrad Zentler ( - ).

Mary (Polly) Kugler Sweitzer ( - ), of Philadelphia, Pa., was the wife of Henry Sweitzer, or Heinrich Schweitzer ( -1808?), a German printer and publisher in Philadelphia during the period 1796 to 1808. Included among his publications was the Pennsylvanische Correspondez. He was also secretary of the German Society.
